Iztaccihuatl(17,103ft / 5213 m) : is the third highest highest mountain in Mexico and is also known as the sleeping lady. This famous climbing spot is in fact an extinct volcano. One can accomplish the journey in either a day or two. The entire trail or route leading to this volcano is known as Los Potrillos.The Paza glacier and the Pecho glacier are two prime attractions of Iztaccihuatl volcano.
Did you know that Pico de Orizaba (18,491ft / 5636 m ) is the third highest peak in North America, which used to be an active volcano, but now lays dormant? This peak has the record of the second tallest peak in the world. An interesting point to note here is that the locals often call this mountain the Star mountain due to the bright light that is reflected as a result of the snow deposited on the summit. An expedition to Mount Orizaba would leave you spellbound, making you closer to the elements of nature by providing you with scenic views of the Gulf of Mexico. Upon arrival in Mexico, we will transfer you to the hotel where you can rest for the day, enjoy your meal and relax. Our staff will brief you about the gear and the schedule.
Head to Mexico City and visit some archaeological sites such as the pyramids of Teotihuacan and return to the accommodation.
We will begin early for Iztaccihuatl in the vehicle which takes 2.5 hours, via La Joya (3977 m / 13047 ft.). We will stay in the camp accommodation for the night.
On this day, we will initiate our trek for the Iztaccihuatl high camp (4703 m / 15430 ft.). It is important that we rest well and gear up for the next day
We begin early for the summit (17,103ft / 5213 m) making our way through the sun’s ridge, which takes 6 hours. Finally, after reaching the summit, we spend some time and commence our descent to the high camp. Later, head to La Joya and onto Puebla.
You can rest and explore the ancient and beautiful vistas of Puebla city (2134 m / 7000 ft.)
We will begin early for the Pico de Orizaba base camp. After lunch, it’s time to head to the high camp (4267 m / 14000 ft.) in the vehicle. We go to bed early in the accommodation at the high camp
We will begin early for the summit (5636 m / 18491 ft.) with all the relevant gear, which takes 5 hours.. A good percentage of this ascent is straight with few ridges in between. The summit gives some spectacular views of the valley. We start our descent to the high camp. The vehicle will transfer us to the lodge in Puebla.
We will begin the day early, wherein the vehicle will take us from Puebla to Mexico City Airport for your flight back home
