Overview

Imja-Tse, also known as Island peak, is one of the best peaks to get an experience in climbing under the 6000 m category. Many climbers prefer undertaking this expedition as it helps them to evaluate better. The Imja-Tse is located in the Sagarmatha National park, Nepal. It was in 1950’s that Imja-Tse was renamed to Island peak by members of the British Everest expedition team, due to the prevalence of snow and ice that gives it a unique island like appearance, when viewed from Dingboche. One unique point to note here is that even though Mt. Everest is located in the north, at a distance of ten kilometres from Island peak, it cannot be seen due to the presence of slopes from Lhotse Shar, that block the view.
